Terms of service
Updated 2026-07-09
By using Finkavo you agree to these terms. They're written to be plain — no clauses designed to catch you out.
Acceptance
Signing up creates a binding agreement between you and Finkavo. If you don't accept the terms, don't create an account. Existing users are bound by the current version; material changes will be emailed at least 30 days in advance.
What Finkavo is (and isn't)
Finkavo is a bilingual assistant that helps you understand your Portuguese tax + admin obligations, translates letters, keeps a calendar of deadlines, and stores documents. Answers are sourced from public materials (AT, Segurança Social, published guidance) and cite them so you can verify. Answers are also generated by AI language models and can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date — the citations exist precisely so you can check them. Finkavo is NOT a licensed tax advisor, accountant, or lawyer, and using Finkavo does not create a client relationship of any kind. If a decision matters (paying tax, filing, responding to AT / AIMA / Segurança Social) verify with the official source or a qualified professional (contabilista certificado, TOC, advogado).
Fair use
One account per person. Don't use Finkavo to spam, scrape, resell, or automate abusive queries against our LLM budget. If you upload documents that don't belong to you, you're responsible for the consequences.
14-day withdrawal right
If you are a consumer resident in the EU, Directive 2011/83/EU + Portuguese Decreto-Lei 24/2014 give you 14 days from the day you subscribe to cancel a paid Finkavo plan without giving a reason and without penalty. Because Finkavo is a digital service, this right is only lost if you (a) actually access the paid features during the 14 days AND (b) explicitly waived the right at checkout — Stripe checkout asks you to confirm this so we can start giving you full access immediately. If you did not tick that confirmation, you keep the withdrawal right for the full 14 days. To withdraw, email hello@finkavo.com within 14 days of subscribing; we will cancel the plan and refund the amount charged. Day passes and one-off filing packs are separate goods — the withdrawal right for them expires as soon as you use them, per the same law.
Billing, renewal, and cancellation
Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual, whichever you chose at checkout). We do not send a renewal notice — the renewal date is always visible on your Settings → Billing page, and Stripe emails you a receipt on every charge. To cancel, go to Settings → Billing → Manage subscription; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep full access until then. There are no partial refunds for time already elapsed in the current period. Day passes and one-off filing packs are single charges and do not renew. The 14-day withdrawal right (previous section) is separate from cancellation and only applies within the first 14 days of a new subscription.
Limitation of liability
Finkavo is provided as-is. We don't guarantee that every answer is correct or that the app is always available. To the extent permitted by Portuguese law, Finkavo's liability is limited to the amount you've paid in the 12 months before the incident (which is zero if you're on the free tier). Nothing in this section limits or excludes liability for (a) gross negligence, (b) willful misconduct, (c) death or personal injury, or (d) damages caused by unlawful processing of personal data. Your right to compensation under RGPD Article 82 is unaffected — no clause here can waive it.
Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Portuguese law. Disputes are resolved in the courts of Lisbon, unless RGPD or consumer-protection law grants you the right to your local court.
Closing your account
Go to /app/settings/profile → Danger Zone → Delete my account. All data is wiped. If you had a paid subscription it cancels automatically at the end of the current period.
